I am the Principal of Caedmon College Whitby, having taken up this position in September 2018. All of previous teaching experience, starting in 1990, has been in 3 large 11-18 high schools in the Leeds local authority. Prior to moving to Caedmon, I held a number of senior leadership position, including headteacher, at my previous school. In recent years, this school and several of its local primary schools built upon their existing federation arrangements to form a multi-academy trust. Before coming to Whitby I had been a governor at one of these primary schools for 7 years.
My academic background at university straddled both mathematics and physics, although for most of my career I have taught mathematics to all ages and abilities, including GCSE and A Level, only occasionally having to dust down the physics books! As the Principal at Caedmon, I think it's really important that I still continue to teach and am really enjoying the challenge of taking a delightful group of Year 11 students through to their GCSE in 2020. Originally born and bred in Liverpool, I made the wrong choice of football team when it came to winning trophies over the years. I am married (to a Year 6 teacher) and have 3 children, one in Year 13, one at university and one who has graduated. It'll feel strange, for the first time this century, to soon have no children at school.
